Pirie's Phase II Group D, dating from about AD 843 - 855. Pirie (1996) motif 2, a cross with a pellet in each angle on th obverse, and motif 4, a central pellet, on the reverse. The coin is 12.5mm diameter, 1.1mm thick and 0.76g.

An Early Medieval coin hoard of 17 copper alloy stycas, coins of the kingdom of Northumbria dating from AD 854 - 900, found by four different finders. 1. An Early Medieval coin: a Phase 2 copper alloy styca of Aethelred II, probably second reign (AD 844 - 848), moneyer Earduulf, Group Ci. It is struck on an oval flan which is 12.2mm long, 11.2mm wide and 1.3mm thick. It weighs 0.7gm.
