An incomplete copper-alloy Fob or 'Dangler' of late Iron Age to early Roman date (50 BC - AD 100), although the date range of such objects is a subject of some debate. The fob is a openwork trefoil or triskele of three loops that has a plate in the centre that would have extended into a shank which would project on the reverse of the dangler terminating in a loop, but the shank is missing on this example, leaving just a scar at the centre. Each of the three arms has a knop on the outer perimeter, then curves in an S shape before the tail spirals into the cen…

An incomplete copper-alloy probable cruciform bead from a beaded torc of Iron Age date, about 50 BC – AD 150. It is flat, thick and is a quatrefoil in plan. There is a central, rectangular perforation for it to be threaded onto the iron rod. The four lobes are moulded on both faces, so they are thicker at the edges. The resulting hollows extend over the edge and are angled giving a spiral effect. It is worn. It is 16.6mm long, 16.6mm wide and 5mm thick. It weighs 5.6g. Compare GLO-EEB7E3, SWYOR-6F2F5E and YORYM-B9EC9D. See al…

A complete Iron Age coin. Though originally suggested to be a gold plated contemporary copy of a gold stater of the North Eastern region / Corieltavi with a copper core (Esuprasu type dating from about AD 40 - 47), it is also suggested that this might be a coin with an unusual level of copper mixed with gold (as those with copper cores tend to weigh less). The coin is 20.1mm in diameter, 3.0mm thick and weighs 5.47g. The coin is dished, concave on the horse face. Obverse: Wreath crossed by bar with crescents at end and a ring of pellets in each cresecent. Reverse: Styli…
