A heavily clipped, silver sixpence of Charles I, 1625-1649. Obverse shows kings crowned bust facing left with VI behind head. Rear shows flat topped shield, area above shield too worn to see any date or symbol. The majority of the legends have been lost to clipping. The date range of this coin can be reduced to the period 1625-1629 due to the use of a square topped shield over long cross fourchee (rather than later oval or garnished shields). This suggests this coin was struck within Group A or B Thickness 0.5mm, maximum clipped diameter 22mm. Weight 1.8g
