Description: An incomplete, silver penannular brooch of Early Medieval date that is divided into four fragments and is decorated with gold filigree inlay. Two of the fragments comprise part of the silver frame of the object. The first fragment is an incomplete, semi-circular fragment with two damaged terminals. An incomplete copper alloy Roman trumpet brooch dating to c.AD 110-350. See Mackreth (2011) TR 2.2d Plate 87 no.9991. The brooch is comprised of a triangular sectioned head that is marked by a central arris which spreads to form a shallow head. Integral to the top of the head is a complete circular headloop that is 6.2mm in internal diameter. Below the headloop on the reverse is the double lug for pin attachment. An incomplete copper alloy, possible tip from a spear head, of probable Middle Bronze Age dating (1500 BC to 1150 BC). Around 5% of the spear head is present, consisting only of the possible tip. It is sub triangular in shape, with a lentoid cross section. Traces of side blades are present to either side. It measures 19.7 mm in length, 7.9 mm wide (base), 3.3 mm wide (tip) and 4.6 mm thick.
