The front may once have an animal design present, or there is a possiblity it is an antiquarian Roman revival button, displaying an image from a Roman coin or a reused coin. A complete pair of copper alloy nut crackers, of Late Post Medieval to Early Modern dating (17th to 18th Centuries AD). The nutcrackers consist of two complete arms, joined at a single point hinge. Both arm taper gently from the hinge down towards an acorn shaped molded terminal (on one arm); a flat disc terminal on the other. In profile the arm is bent inwards slightly.
