An incomplete copper alloy sword scabbard chape of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (Late 15th to 16th Century AD). The chape is incomplete, with only the front plate surviving. This plate is also slightly damaged. The chape is sub-oval in plan with a rounded front and a dished reverse for the blade. The chape terminates in a knop and is crenellated at the top, at the attachment end. It has an openwork trefoil in the centre.
