Two (2) incomplete fragment of two clay tobacco pipes bowl of late Post Medieval date (c.1660-1680). The first pipe fragment consists of part of the bowl and the heel. It measures 33.36mm high, 30.15mm in length, and 10.13mm wide. The heel length is 11.61mm. The bore diameter is 3.65mm. It weighs 5.6 grams. The bowl style is similar to Oswald's type 2 and dates from c.1660 to c.1680 (Oswald, 1975). No maker's marks are present. The second pipe fragment consists of the heel and part of the stem. A fragment of a polished stone axe which appears to have been reused as a pestle. The axe had an oval section, 52.6 x 32.6mm, one end of which shows a hackly fracture. The other ends shows the faceted wear typical of a stone pestle or hammer-stone. This has been locally damaged with the loss of a large chip. It has been made from a fine grained rock, grains of quartz being visible in a black matrix. It measures 61.89mm in length, 53.79mm wide and 32.89mm thick. It weighs 171.4 grams. A cast copper alloy single looped buckle frame, of Medieval dating (14th Century AD). The buckle frame is sub oval in plan, with two protruding corner knops . The strap bar is square in section and offset. The frame is decorated by two oval protruding corner knops, with three perpendicular grooves between them in the centre of the loop. A complete cast copper alloy double loop oval buckle frame, of late Medieval dating (c.1400 to 1600 AD). The buckle frame consists of a double looped oval buckle frame, with bevelled edges to the frame. The pin and strap plate are not present. The edges of the buckle frame are raised higher than the central bar. The buckle is a mid dark green to brown, with an uneven surface patina. Abrasion has resulted in the loss of surface detail and patina from the edges and flat surfaces. The buckle frame measures 23.77mm in length, 19.70mm wide and 2.32mm thick. It weighs 2.3 grams. …
