Six Roman pottery sherds found in the same area. One is a body sherd of samian, decorated with a moulded dog or wolf running right. It is from either a Dragondorf 29 or 37 bowl (weight 3.3 grams). It dates from the first to third century AD. A second sherd of samian is from a mortarium, either a Dragondorf 43 or 45. It dates from the second to third centuries AD and is probably from East Gaul (weight 9.4 grams). The third is a local white ware mortaria, possibly Hartshill / Mancetter (Warwickshire) as that is a major mortarium production site in the region. …

An incomplete enamelled copper alloy strap slide or fitting, of Late Iron Age to Early Roman dating (200 BC to AD 100). The strap fitting is sub rectangular in shape. This is shaped around two well-preserved silver rivets whose heads are of different sizes. Below the rivets is a semi-circular or fan-shaped field, engraved with a trilobate motif. An incomplete stone flat or discoidal spindle whorl, of Roman to Post Medieval dating (AD 43 - AD 1650). Around 50% of the spindle whorl is present.The spindle whorl is semi-circular, and rectangular in cross section. The central hole is sub circular in shape and has been drilled slightly off central, from both sides. The internal diameter of the hole measures 5.6 mm wide. Both the upper and lower faces are flat. An incomplete copper alloy, possible tip from a spear head, of probable Middle Bronze Age dating (1500 BC to 1150 BC). Around 5% of the spear head is present, consisting only of the possible tip. It is sub triangular in shape, with a lentoid cross section. Traces of side blades are present to either side. It measures 19.7 mm in length, 7.9 mm wide (base), 3.3 mm wide (tip) and 4.6 mm thick. A fragment of a polished stone axe which appears to have been reused as a pestle. The axe had an oval section, 52.6 x 32.6mm, one end of which shows a hackly fracture. The other ends shows the faceted wear typical of a stone pestle or hammer-stone. This has been locally damaged with the loss of a large chip. It has been made from a fine grained rock, grains of quartz being visible in a black matrix. It measures 61.89mm in length, 53.79mm wide and 32.89mm thick. It weighs 171.4 grams.
