An incomplete copper alloy end cap from a whistle, of Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1800). Around 25% of the whistle is present, consisting only of the end cap. The rest of the whistle is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The end cap was originally circular in shape, but is now slightly flattened. Two small circles are present on either side of the body at the wide open end. The lower edges are damaged. A suspension loop has been set at right angles to the body of the whistle. An incomplete whetstone of unknown date. The whetstone or hone is formed from a very fine grained sedimentary, mica rich sandstone or siltstone. It is a light grey colour. It is sub-rectangular in shape, with tapering sides. The cross-section is sub-rectangular. Five sides are finely smoothed, with one edge demonstrating a rough fracture. It measures 48.03mm long, 67.76mm wide and maximum thickness is 27.73mm. The minimum thickness is 11.70mm. It weighs 102.7 grams. An incomplete whetstone or hone, of uncertain dating, but probably Roman to Post Medieval (AD 43 to AD 1800). The whetstone is sub rectangular in plan, and triangular in section. It has been made from a fine grained sedimentary sandstone or siltstone. An old diagonal break along the length is present on the reverse, giving the whetstone fragment the triangular shape. A figure of eight shaped perforation is present at the top, indicating that it had been created by the use of a drill on either side.
