A complete copper alloy tag from a surveyor's chain, of Post Medieval to Modern dating (AD 1579 to AD 1950). The tag is D-shaped in plan with thick sections cut away to make three wide triangular prongs. The sides of the object curve round to form the D-shape before curving upwards to create a knop with a circular perforation which would have acted as a suspension loop as there is a break in it. The suspension loop has an internal diameter of 5.33 mm. The tag is undecorated on both sides. It measures 36.82 mm in length, 33.35 mm wide and 3.39 mm thick. It weighs 6.2 g. The tag i…
