A complete vesica or pointed oval lead or lead alloy seal matrix, of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1400). The reverse has an incomplete tab handle. No decoration is present on the reverse. The central device is a crescent with an eight pointed star above and a pellet below. Comma abbreviations are present. The initial mark is a cross potent. The inscription reads + S' WILELMI LE ROER, probably The Seal of William the Rower. A rower is a wheelwright; see Reaney and Wilson, Dictionary of English Surnames, under Rower. It measures 34.7 mm in length, is 21.4 mm wide and 6.9 mm
