An incomplete sheet copper alloy scabbard chape of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1400 - AD 1600). The chape has been formed from a piece of sheet copper alloy metal, wrapped together. The chape is a sub cuboid shape. The seam is present at the back of the chape and the sides have been flattened. Both the upper and lower edges are incomplete. The upper edge originally had a decorative zig zag edge. The base of the chape was originally a rounded point. Description: An incomplete gilded silver pyramid mount of Early Medieval dating (first half of the 7th Century AD). Around 50% of the pyramid mount is present, consisting of the top (apex) and two sides (faces). The rest is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The mount is hollow and originally would have had a square base. The broken stub of a transverse bar, originally for a strap attachment, is preserved on the base.
