An incomplete enamelled copper alloy scabbard cover of Medieval dating (late 13th to 14th Century AD). The scabbard cover is sub rectangular in shape, with a curved lower edge. The lower edge curves up to an acute angle on the left hand side, the tip of the scabbard. The upper edge is mostly straight and the right hand edge is incomplete. The scabbard cover is flat. The lower edge has been folded underneath and has circular attachment holes. These holes still contain iron rivets. An incomplete cast white metal (probably pewter) scabbard chape of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (1400 - 1600 AD). The chape appears to have been cast as opposed to being formed from a sheet of white metal, folded and crimped into shape. It is is sub triangular in plan, and pentagonal in cross section. The chape is incomplete, with damage present around the mouth, indicating that it was originally longer. The tip / end of the scabbard is also pentagonal in shape, and is flat.
