A complete cast copper alloy 'rod' or dowel, of uncertain function and dating. It is probably Roman in dating (AD 43 to AD 410). The rod is circular sectioned, and gradually tapers down its length. Both ends are intact. The top is slightly flared outwards, possibly the result of being hammered multiple times. No decoration is present along the length of the shaft. Several longitudinal scars are present, probably the result of abrasion. The rod measures 155.02 mm in length, has a maximum diameter of 11.63 mm and a minimum of 6.93 mm. It weighs 79.0 g.
