An incomplete copper sub-circular ring fitting or handle of probable post medieval or early modern date (1500 - 1800). The fitting / handle comprises a circular ring with the remains of a single projection. The projection is integrally cast with a rectangular cross section. In plan the handle / fitting is an irregular circle with a D shaped cross section and bevelled edges. The ring measures 30.0 mm length, 27.1 mm width and is 6.2 mm high and 2.2 mm thick. An incomplete cast copper alloy ring, possibly a finger ring or possibly harness fitting, of probable Iron Age to Roman dating (200 BC to AD 300). The ring is cast in one piece and is relatively large and heavy. The ring is relatively uniform in diameter and broadly D shaped in cross section. It is decorated with a single circumferential recessed band which divides the ring unevenly. There seems to be no other surface decoration present. The ring has an external diameter of 31.77 mm and an internal diameter of 19.42 mm. It is 10.95 mm wide and is 4.83 mm thick. It weighs 21.1 g. …
