An incomplete copper alloy pin of probable Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). Less than 50% of the pin is present, consisting of the head and part of the shank. The shank has a rectangular cross section. The head is conical, with a flattened circular top. The base of the head has facetted sides which continue into the shank. No collar is present at the base of the head. The shank is not straight but exhibits a curve towards the end. The break is patinated. It measures 30.0 mm in length. An incomplete copper alloy head from a hair pin, of Early Medieval dating (AD 700 to AD 900). The hair pin consists of the head. The shank is missing. The head is similar to that of Cool's Group 15 type (Cool, 1990, 164), consisting of a cube shaped head, covered by diamond and triangular shaped facets (Orthorhombic shape).
