Staining is present in the cavity where the iron fixing pin, which was formerly embedded in a small central boss, has rusted away. The setting is circular and consists of a sheet gold back-plate to which has been soldered a composite collar, made from a gold strip set edge-on to the plate, and surrounded by a single strand of gold beaded wire.
