An incomplete copper-alloy decorative hinge element from either a box/casket or a book, of Post Medieval dating (c. AD 1500 - c. AD 1700). The hinge section is roughly rectangular with three rectangular protrusions, which would have created the hinge junction. Beneath these protrusions is a squared piece of sheet metal, with rounded corners. Two holes are present in it, currently with two circular round rivets still in situ. It measures 14.9 mm in length, 26.9 mm wide and 3.7 mm thick. It weighs 4.3 g. The hinge is a dark green colour, with an even surface patina. Similar …

A complete copper alloy hinge, probably from a book or a box, probably of Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1800). The hinge is in two sections. The lower part is sub triangular in shape, with a pointed base. A key shaped hole is present in the centre, and the top of this section is wrapped around the axis bar in the upper part.
