A complete silver stirrup finger ring, of Medieval dating (AD 1200 to AD 1400). The finger ring has a D shaped hoop. The hoop rises to a flat topped pointed bezel. A gem is set into the bezel with a plain setting. The gem is oval. Under magnification, it is possible to see pitting and a conchoidal fracture in the surface of the gem, suggesting that it is probably glass as opposed to a gemstone. The shoulders are rectangular in shape, decorated with five parallel engraved grooves on one side and six grooves on the other. The shoulders 3.4 mm wide and 1.8 mm long.
