A complete copper alloy quillon or guard from a dagger or large knife of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1350 to AD 1600). The guard consists of a central flat oval area, with a rectangular aperture (this would have held the tang). This measures 6.7 mm wide and 4.2 mm long internally. On either end are onion or nipple shaped knob, which extend from a narrow stem. No other decoration is present. It measures 32.3 mm in length, 13.0 mm wide and 8.4 mm thick. It weighs 5.1 g. The flint dagger or knife is a core tool, it has been formed on a large blade like knife from a prepared core. The flint matrix is mid grey with significant white inclusions and grey/black veining. A complete cuboid copper alloy sword or dagger pommel, of Post Medieval dating (c. AD 1400 to c. AD 1650). The pommel is cuboid in shape, with rounded edges and a hollow core. A small square hole is present in the top, and a larger square hole in the base, this would have originally accommodated the tang. Two sides of the pommel are flattened. The probable quillon is sub rectangular in shape, with a flat but slightly curved cross section. The ends are squared. A rectangular hole is present in the centre of the probable quillon.
