A complete lead or lead alloy, zoomorphic (bird) possible die stamp or probable casting spillage, of possible Early Medieval dating (AD 410 - AD 1066). The probable casting spillage is irregular in plan, and rectangular in section. The front has a raised design, consisting of a bird standing on two legs, with the head and beak to the left side of the body, and tail outstretched behind. Feathers are depicted by several curvilinear lines. The reverse is plain and undecorated. It measures 24.48 mm in length, 34.08 mm wide and 4.76 mm thick. It weighs 17.6 g. The probable casting…
