Description: A complete but bent silver bodkin. The bodkin has been bent in two places. The first bend is at the top, halfway down the square eye and it has been bent approximately 180 degrees. The second bend is around the two thirds down the length and is at an angle of approximately 60 degrees. The bodkin was originally rectangular, flat, and tapers down to a blunt point. An incomplete silver twisted bodkin of Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1700). Around 25% of the bodkin or toilet article is present, consisting of part of the shaft and an incomplete eye. The eye would have been sub square in shape, with a rounded terminal. Below the eye, the shaft has a rectangular cross section. The shaft has been twisted with an 'S' twist and extended down to a square cross section. It measures 39.9 mm in length, 3.8 mm wide and 5.6 mm thick. It weighs 1.9 g.

A complete, but bent, silver bodkin or dress-pin, of Post medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1650). The bodking exhibits an acute 25 degree bend, located around the mid point of the bodkin, resulting in it being folded almost in half. The bodkin has a rectangular sectioned shaft, with bevelled (slightly facetted) edges on both sides. The shaft tapers to a blunt tip. The head of the bodkin has a rounded tip with a small bowl / ear scoop terminal.
