A complete iron axehead of uncertain dating, possibly Medieval to Post medieval (c. AD 1000 - 1800). The axehead is broadly triangular in form with a curved cutting edge. The socket is broadly rectangular in form with rounded upper and lower projections. The perforation in the socket is triangular. The axehead has a straight flat butt end. The main body of the blade has a more tapered downward projection as opposed to the upper edge that is more angular as it tapers to the cutting blade. An incomplete copper alloy axehead, of Mid to Late Bronze Age dating (1600 BC to 800 BC). Less than 25% of the axehead is present, consisting of the base of the socket and the blade edge. The fragment is sub rectangular in shape, and triangular in cross section. The socket is rectangular in shape. Casting ridges are present along one of the sides. A complete iron axe or axehead, of probable Medieval dating (AD 1000 to AD 1500). The axe is broadly sub-rectangular in plan with an irregular shaped expanded blade that has a pronounced downward projection. The socket is sub circular in shape measuring 37.8 mm length x 27.3mm width. The butt of the axe is rectangular. As the blade expands in width it tapers in section; forming a wide even cutting edge.
