A complete lead or lead alloy pilgrims ampulla, of medieval dating (AD 1175 to AD 1500). It is sub rectangular in shape, with a horizontal linear upper edge and a narrowed neck, and circular body. This horizontal edge of the ampulla appears to be crimped together. Two semi circular handles are present at the neck of the vessel. Decoration is faintly present on one side, with a wreath enclosing an uncertain design. Both faces of the ampulla have been altered with an inscribed cross, almost obliterating the original design. A casting seam is present around the sides of the ampulla. …
