~~A gold composite jewellery fitting. The back plate is formed by an oval sheet with a twisted rope like border. Three circular sectioned wire loops are present on either side. These have been soldered to a collar made from a strip of gold, set at right angles, running around the inside of the rope border. This collar would have secured the original gem in place. The gem is now missing.
