One rim sherd of a wheel thrown ceramic vessel. The rim sherd consists of a fabric similar to that known from the Mancetter/Hartshill (Warwickshire) industry, dating from the 2nd to 4th Centuries AD. The sherd came from a large open mortarium (grinding bowl), with a hammerhead style rim. The sherd measures 9.74mm thick and weighs 36.2 grams. A fragment of a polished stone axe which appears to have been reused as a pestle. The axe had an oval section, 52.6 x 32.6mm, one end of which shows a hackly fracture. The other ends shows the faceted wear typical of a stone pestle or hammer-stone. This has been locally damaged with the loss of a large chip. It has been made from a fine grained rock, grains of quartz being visible in a black matrix. It measures 61.89mm in length, 53.79mm wide and 32.89mm thick. It weighs 171.4 grams. A cast copper alloy nail cleaner with folded top, of Roman date (1st to 4th Centuries AD). A complete, but slightly bent, cast copper alloy cleaner, similar to Crummy's type 1a (Crummy, 1983, p57). It consists of a narrow plain, straight-sided strip of copper alloy, with a bifurcated tip and a wrapped suspension loop. Traces of gilding survive towards the top of the nail cleaner.
