An incomplete copper alloy brooch of uncertain type, of Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 200). Less than 25% of the brooch is present, consisting only of the catch plate. The bow, wings, head, spring and pin are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The brooch fragment is sub triangular in plan. The catch plate is triangular with folded edge to retain the pin. No foot knop present. It measures 19.8 mm in length, 7.7 mm wide and 2.8 mm thick. It weighs 0.9 g. Triangular catch plates are found on several types of Roman brooches, including Hod Hill, Trumpet and T shaped brooc…
