An incomplete cast lead or lead alloy lion headed mount, of probable Post Medieval dating (16th to 18th Centuries AD).
The mount is circular in plan and D-shaped in cross section. It consists of a Lion's Head, and surrounding mane, facing outwards. The detail of the face and mane have been lost through abrasion, but it is possible to identify the eyes, nose and mouth of the lion. The back of the mount is plain and undecorated. The remains of an iron attachment are present, located at the top of the mount.
It has a diameter of 28.97 mm and is 13.62 mm thick. It weighs 47.8 grams.
