An incomplete copper alloy Polden Hill brooch of Roman date, circa (AD 80 - 120). The brooch consists of the head, wings, upper part of bow, rearward facing hook and spring. The pin, lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing. The bow head is hump-like, and slightly angular (comma shaped) in profile. The front has been decorated with a forward facing head, with tendrils or snakes extending from the top of the head, and curving round the face. An incomplete enamelled copper alloy pelta plate brooch of Roman dating (2nd Century AD). Less than 50% of the brooch is present, consisting of the lower curve of the plate. The surviving part of the brooch is crescent shaped with patinated breaks along the upper edges and on the terminals.
