A single circular shaped hole is set off centre with an internal of diameter 9.7 mm. It measures 29.9 mm in length and has a diameter of 27.2 mm. It weighs 107.5 g (3.79 oz). It is a dark grey colour, with an uneven patina across the surface. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface.

It would have fitted onto a hexagonal sectioned handle. The finial consists of a fluted base, which narrows to a thin collar and a blunt rounded knop. It measures 21.43mm in length, 12.96mm wide and 13.66mm thick. It weighs 8.8 grams. The knop is a mid to dark green colour with an even surface patina. Spoons with a Baluster style knop or finials are typically of 16th Century dating.
