Description: An incomplete gilded silver filigree dress hook, of 16th Century dating. The dress hook is a composite design, made up of a rectangular back plate, a basal hook and a domed rectangular body. The attachment loop is missing. The rectangular back plate and basal hook are made from silver. The basal hook is soldered to the opposite side to where the attachment loop would be present. A rectangular slot is present instead. An incomplete cast copper alloy single sharp hooked clasp (dress hook), of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1550). Approximately 90% of the dress hook is present. The hooked clasp consists of a sub rectangular incomplete attachment loop with a sub circular moulded openwork panel. The openwork panel has a raised central linear circle, with two elongated angular knops to either side and a swg at the juncture of the plate and hook. A single sharp hook is present at the end. The reverse is plain and undecorated. It measures 19.84 mm in length, 16.48 mm wide and 1.59 mm thick.…

An incomplete cast copper alloy dress hook, of Post Medieval dating (16th to 17th Centuries AD). The dress hook consists of a diamond shaped plate, with integrally cast hook. The decoration on the front of the plate consists of a centrally located square, set end to end (diamond / lozenge shape), with a lattice work, set to look like foliate decoration around the out side.
