A complete pair of cast copper alloy nut crackers, of Post Medieval (Late 18th Century) dating. The nut crackers consist of two identical parts hinged together at the top. The upper part is made up of two solid plates, which are sub semi-circular in section, with three flat areas decorated with foliate like decoration. The inside surface has four lines of triangular nicks designed to hold the nut in place. An incomplete cast copper-alloy lid for a set of nested cup weights, of Modern dating (18th to 19th Centuries AD). The underside of the lid consists of a circular base, with a raised rectangular rim around the edge. A double concentric circle has been incised into the base, with two smaller complete circles located at the top and bottom. Two circular perforations (internal diameter 1.58mm) are located towards the far edge, on the concentric circles. Medieval coin: A worn cast copper alloy Chinese coin, from the Northern Song dynasty (960 AD to 1127 AD), minted during the Xining reign between 1068 and 1077 AD. Chinese characters (inscription- Xining yuanbao) are only present on the obverse. A square hole (7.60mm by 8.05mm internal dimensions) is present at the centre of the coin. Diameter: 24.00mm Thickness: 1.44mm Weight: 4.1 grams It is doubtful that this is a geninue medieval find (i.e. present in the country due to trade and lost accidentially) but more likely a more recent loss from an curated collection.
