Only the head, one wing and bow remain. The left hand wing is partially remaining with the spring, pin, foot and catch plate missing. A semi-circular end cap is present at the end of the wing. The bow head is slightly angular (comma shaped). Located at the reverse of the head is a broadly oval concave recess where the spring would have been held in place. Less than 50% of the pin is present, consisting of the head and part of the shank. The shank has a rectangular cross section. The head is conical, with a flattened circular top. The base of the head has facetted sides which continue into the shank. No collar is present at the base of the head. The shank is not straight but exhibits a curve towards the end. Less than 25% of the brooch is present, consisting of the catch plate only. The rest of the brooch is missing, presumed lost in antiquity.
The catch plate is triangular in shape, and has the lower part of the bow present. The folded rim is missing.
It measures 21.6 mm in length, 3.6 mm wide and 8.5 mm thick. It weighs 0.8 g.
The catch plate is a mid green colour with an even surface patina.
Triangular catch plates are common to many different styles of brooch, mostly likely Roman in date.
