An incomplete copper alloy button and looped fastener, of Late Iron Age to Early Roman dating (150 BC to c. 100 AD).
Around 50% of the button and looped fastener is present, consisting of the button and the start of the loop.
The 'button' consists of a transverse, round sectioned bar, with a central recess, with two shallow thin, circumferential grooves, one each side of the recess. The joining bar was round sectioned. On each side of the bar is an incised, circumferential, line. Both ends bear a globular like mouldings, their inner edges marked by circumferential incised lines.…

An incomplete cast copper alloy button and loop fastener dating from the late Iron Age to early Roman periods, circa AD1-AD100. In plan, the button has a tear-drop form with the incomplete loop extending underneath. The loop terminates in an old break. The face of the button has a circular domed knop at the centre. The reverse of the button is flat and undecorated. The loop extends from the base of the button and turns downwards almost at a right angle.
