A complete wrought copper alloy ring, probably the finger ring of a child, of unknown dating. The ring is circular in plan, and circular in cross section. It consists of a drawn copper alloy wire wrapped and fixed together to form a solid unbroken ring. A small swelling is present where the two ends of the wire overlap and have been welded together. Small transverse scratch marks are present, where the ring has been filed and polished, but other than these, no signs of decoration are apparent. A complete cast copper alloy finger ring of Roman date, circa AD43-200. The ring is 'stirrup shaped' with a D-sectioned hoop expanding towards the shoulders, which flares into an oval bezel. The shape of the ring falls within Guiraud Type 2g. The setting contains red enamel with a slightly raised 'III' surrounded by a curving line. The design is catagorised by Daubney as Group 5d. Dimensions: The hoop has an external diameter of 19.44mm. From the outside of the bezel to the back of the hoop is 19.66mm. The bezel is 6.64mm wide. The ring weighs 2.2g.
