An incomplete Roman Colchester derivative brooch of Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4.g, flat wing ends type), dating to AD 160-200. The brooch is largely intact although the catchplate is damaged and the pin incomplete. The wings are semi-cylindrical in plan with pierced wing/end caps intact. The end caps extend slightly beyond the diameter of the wings. The bow head is hump-like, and slightly angular (comma shaped) in profile. A complete lead alloy line weight or bead of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 to AD 1800). The probable line weight is rectangular in shape, with a square cross section. A hole appears to run through the length of the weight, this is mostly infilled with soil at time of recording. One face has been decorated with two raised crosses or Xs. A complete flake from a prepared core of Late Neolithic to Early Iron Age dating (3300 BC to 1000 BC). The flake is sub rectangular in shape and a mid brown colour. Part of a striking platform is present at the top of the flake. Retouch is present along both edges and can be classified as short, sub-parallel, semi-abrupt. It measures 40.6 mm in length, 24.9 mm maximum width, and 6.0 mm maximum thickness. It weighs 7.2 g.
