An incomplete silver modified finger ring, of probable Post Medieval dating (AD 1700 to AD 1800). The probable finger ring has been divided into three sections. Each section has been curled round to form a loop, and all three sections interlock with each other to form a sub spherical shape. The finger ring hoop is flat. Due to the interlocking nature, it is hard to determine if there is an inscription or any maker's marks on the interior of the hoop. The exterior consists of a twisted wire border both top and bottom, with a recess on the internal edge. Between the two borders is …

Description: Straightened silver finger-ring, very damaged. Between engraved parallel lines on the edge of the hoop is the inscription in Roman capitals LIV+IN+ [blank with what looks like an I with a cross bar on the middle left] OPE. Other side [formerly the inside of the hoop] left plain. Dimensions: Width: 0.4 cm Length: 5.6 cm Discussion : It would seem that the inscription read LIVE IN HOPE before it was damaged. This is a common inscription on posy rings. Similar examples can be found on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database, : DEV-F43347 for a gold ring from Dev…

An incomplete silver finger ring, wrapped around a lead or lead alloy musket ball, of probable Late Post Medieval dating (AD 1600 - AD 1800). This artefact can be described in two parts: The finger ring and the musket ball. The finger ring is incomplete, with the hoop being cut and an unknown amount of the hoop being removed. The finger ring has been cut, so that it almost completely encircles the musket ball. The hoop of the finger ring has a thin rectangular cross section. No bezel is present on the finger ring, just a decorated hoop. The front of the hoop is heavily worn but …
