Description: A complete but misshapen gold and enamel finger ring, of Post Medieval dating (16th to 17th Centuries AD). The finger ring was originally circular in shape, but is now sub square, due to post depositional soil pressure deforming the band. It has a D shaped cross section. It has been decorated with a geometric grid pattern on the exterior containing significant remains of white enamel. Each square in the grid is approximately 1.0 mm wide. A complete copper alloy signet finger ring, of Late Medieval to Early Post Medieval dating (c. AD 1450 to c. AD 1650). The bezel is oval in shape. The device consists of a recessed Tau Cross (a T shaped cross with three arms, missing its upper arm), positioned on a slight diagonal. The shoulders are curved and taper straight into the hoop.
