A complete black annular / ring shale bead of probable Roman dating (AD 43 to AD 410). It is circular in plan. It has convex sides, with the edges flattened, almost an oblate form. Slight horizontal ridges are present along the edge. The central perforation has been located slightly off centre, it has parallel sides, with an internal diameter of 4.21 mm. The bead has a diameter of 18.13 mm, and is 9.52 mm thick. It weighs 2.1 grams. An incomplete hand made jet mourning brooch, of Victorian dating (c. AD 1880 - c. AD 1910). The brooch is oval in plan. The front exhibits carved decoration. In the centre is a plain upright oval. Surrounding this is a greek key design. The edge of the brooch consists of a twisted rope style border. The back is plain and consists of a copper alloy back plate. The pin is incomplete and consists of part of the hinge and a small amount of the catch plate.
