An incomplete cast copper alloy padlock of Post Medieval date. The padlock is circular in plan and rectangular in section with two protruding lugs at the top which would have originally taken the bar, which is now missing. Iron corrosion around the lugs would suggest that the bar was originally made from iron.
A rectangular plate is present, both on the front and the back, positioned longituditionally in the centre. Each plate has been decorated with two ring and dot motifs to either side of the central bar.

The sherd is 8.58mm thick and weighs 11.1g. It is 41.95mm long and 32.29mm wide.
The sherd consists of a fragment of fired clay, in a fabric is similar to that published as GR2 (fine grog/clay pellet with some leached shell) in McSloy 2007, p 25, dated to the Bronze Age (c.2150 BC to c.800 BC) but without the fossil shell.
