An incomplete silver hammered penny of Edward I (1272-1307). The coin is porbably Class 4a-b dating from AD1282-1300 but could belong to Classes 4a-9a. The coin was minted in Durham. The obverse shows a crowned head facing forwards with a probably trifoliate crown. The obverse legend reads EDW[]GL DNS hYB. The reverse shows a long cross with three pellets in each quadrant. Reverse legend reads CIVI/[]/DVR/EME. Diameter: 17.87mm. Thickness: 1.10mm. Weight: 1.1g. Die axis: 3 o'clock.
