The obverse depicts a soldier standing, with a sword at his side, and the legend CHEVALIER around the top. The reverse depicts a gentleman standing, with the legend, ESQUIRE around the top. It has a die axis of 12 o'clock. It has a diameter of 17.6 mm, and is 1.8 mm thick. It weighs 2.3 g. These markers were sold as a set of four to be used as markers in the game of Whist during the 1860s AD.
