An incomplete gilded copper alloy buckle plate, of Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1450). Around 50% of the buckle plate is present, with only the front half and a rivet surviving. The back half and the other rivet are missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The buckle plate is sub rectangular in shape, and flat in cross section. It has two rectangular lugs, with an old post depositional break at the end, located on one side. Around 25% of the buckle frame is present, consisting of part of the decorative outer loop. The rest of the buckle frame is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The outer loop has a circular hole at the outer edge, flanked by two (one incomplete) oval holes. Moulded scrollwork decoration is present along the edge of the central loops. A complete copper alloy double looped asymmetrical buckle, of post-medieval dating (AD 1575 to AD 1700). The buckle is a double loop trapezoid with moulded decoration on the loop. The buckle frame is rectangular in plan, and d-shaped in section.The frame has been decorated with moulded transverse and diagonal grooves on sides and end of the frame. The reverse is undecorated.
