An incomplete silver asymmetrical buckle frame of Post medieval dating (c. AD 1575 - AD 1700). Less than 25% of the buckle frame is present, consisting of part of the outer loop only. The internal side of the rounded outer edge extends into the loop slightly as a very shallowswelling. There is a decorative groove following the perimeter of the outer frame. The reverse has been bevelled slightly towards the inside edges. It measures 24.3 mm in length and is 8.3 mm wide. It has a thickness of 2.2 mm and weighs 1.8 g. A complete silver rectangular buckle frame of Late Post Medieval dating (AD 1720s to AD 1790s). The frame is complete, but the spindle and chape are missing. The frame is rectangular, with rounded corners. There are moulded curvilinear and oblique lines over the front of the buckle frame. The frame has been drilled for a separate spindle. A maker's mark has been stamped onto the reverse of the frame, depicting the initials SN in a rectangular cartouche. A complete silver rectangular single loop buckle of Late Medieval dating (AD 1300 to AD 1500). The buckle frame is rectangular with rounded corners and an expanded outside edge. A oval pin rest is present in the centre of the outside edge. The corners are blunt and not bevelled. The pin is still attached, moving freely, and is wrapped around the inside edge. The pin has a circular cross section and a rounded blunt point. The buckle frame measures 18.6 mm in length, 23.2 mm wide and 2.4 mm thick. The pin measures 20.0 in length with a diameter of 2.4 mm. Description: An incomplete silver annular buckle frame and chape. The pin is missing. The buckle frame is annular (circular) in shape with bevelled edges. The central bar is lower and recessed. No maker’s marks are present. The buckle plate or chape is sub triangular in shape, with a rounded apex. The chape has been made from a sheet of silver metal.
