~~A gold composite jewellery fitting. The back plate is formed by an oval sheet with a twisted rope like border. Three circular sectioned wire loops are present on either side. These have been soldered to a collar made from a strip of gold, set at right angles, running around the inside of the rope border. This collar would have secured the original gem in place. The gem is now missing. This item shares similarities with items of Roman and Early Medieval period, for example: IOW-05E330 (2014 T586), PAS-D3A974 (2009 T103) and SWYOR-4637C5 (2010 T573).
