The buckle is a sub rectangular shoe or knee buckle, with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The frame is expanded at the outer edges and by the spindle. Decorative scrolls are present on the inside edges, probably functioning as a pin rests. An incomplete cast copper alloy double-looped spectacle buckle dating from the late Medieval to Post Medieval periods, circa AD1500-1650. The frame survives intact but the pin is missing. The damage is not new. The frame has pointed outer loops. On the face of the frame a groove is present at the apex of both of the loops. The grooves are decorative but would also act as a pin rest.
