An incomplete silver button, made from a silver rupee issued in the Indian Princely State of Hyderabad in the late 19th century. The coin is circular, with raised arabic script on both sides. An incomplete circular loop has been solded to the centre of the reverse, converting the coin into a button. The button has a diameter of 14.9 mm and is 4.9 mm thick. The coin is 2.2 mm thick. It weighs 2.8 g. It is a mid grey colour, with an even surface patina. It was quite common for coins such as these to be turned into buttons and cufflinks. As this artefact is less than 300 year…

An incomplete silver probable button, probably of Post medieval dating (19th to 20th Century AD). Around 25% of the button is present, consisting of a sheet silver decorated layer, which would have covered the button back. The button would have originally been circular in shape, but the fragment present is sub square. From the amount present, a ropework border is visible around the outside and possible foliate design on the inside. A complete silvered and gilded square button of Modern dating (AD 1800 to AD 1900). The button consists of a square front with a thin circular sectioned wire soldered to the reverse. The wire has a diameter of 0.8 mm. The button front is slightly convex (domed). Both gilding and silvering have been applied to the front.
