An incomplete copper alloy strap end of Late Early Medieval dating (1000 AD to 1100 AD). Around 50% of the strap end is present, consisting of the top half with the attachment rivets. The strap end was originally tongue shaped. The upper (attachment) end is recessed on the front for a missing separate plate. Two circular attachment rivets are present at the top of the strap end. A complete copper alloy tongue-shaped strap end, of Late Early Medieval dating (c. AD 850 to c. AD 1100). The strap end is tongue-shaped, with a rectangular attachment end. The attachment end still contains two circular sectioned copper alloy rivets. These have a diameter of 2.8 mm. The front of the plat has been decorated in high relief, with probably a Winchester-style foliate decoration surrounding a central motif, possibly a figure. The reverse is concave. Long edge are bevelled. Both sides have been decorated with a similar design, with an engraved elongated V in parallel with the edges of the strap end. The squared terminal is incomplete.
