A complete struck silver quarter stater of the Iron Age, South-Western (Durtriges), dating to 50 BC to AD 40, probably of the Duro Thunderbolt type. ABC (Rudd) p. 113, cf. 2217; BMC 2771-9. The obverse of the coin does, however, appear to have the 'three men in a boat' design which appears on the 'Badbury Rat' type (Rudd 2214).
The coin was presented for recording in a sealed coin wallet, so only diameter was able to be measured and this is not exact. Thickness and weight could not be determined.

The obverse depicts the letters 'VO', 'LI', 'SI' & 'OS' between 3 plain lines, crossed by a leaf, in opposite corners a pellet ring and a wheel. The reverse depicts a horse facing left, with the letters 'DVM' above, the letters 'ODON' below, a pellet triangle beneath the head and OS above the head. Hobbs (1996), nos 3330-3331.
