complete struck / hammered gold stater of the North-Eastern Gold Inscribed 'VOLISIOS DVMNOCOVEROS' type, of Late Iron Age dating (60 BC to 50 BC).
The obverse depicts the letters 'VO', 'LI', 'SI' & 'OS' between 3 plain lines, crossed by a leaf, in opposite corners a pellet ring and a wheel. The reverse depicts a horse facing left, with the letters 'DVM' above, the letters 'ODON' below, a pellet triangle beneath the head and OS above the head. Hobbs (1996), nos 3330-3331.

Obverse description: Stylised ears of corn, Apollo wreath crossed by three horizontal lines for legend
Obverse inscription: VOL[I]/SIO[S]
Reverse description: lunate of Celticised discombobulated horse left, three pellets below head, legend scattered in three segments.
Reverse inscription: [D]VM/NOCO/[VEROS]
